In recent years I have been painting exclusively in
oils, although I used acrylics for over 20 years and
have also used casein, pastels, and the airbrush.  I
was born and raised and have spent all my life in
New England and enjoy painting landscapes and
seascapes and cityscapes of the New England
area.  My family and I have vacationed in every New
England state;  I had a summer cottage at a Rhode
Island beach;  I graduated from college in Vermont.  
I have always felt that you did not have to leave this
area to find natural beauty.

Dr. John M. Fitzsimmons is a retired optometrist who
has been painting for over 50 years.  His paintings
have been exhibited in a number of galleries and
museums in New England including the New Britain
Museum of American Art, the Slater Museum in
Norwich, and the Mystic Museum in Mystic.  His
works are hanging in many private homes and
